Industry Survey on BBS - Safety Information
Industry Survey Results (cont....). This page reports on the number of respondents using BBS, Employee Involvement and the features of their Safety Management System.
Of the 1404 respondents, 857 (61%) were implementing Behavioral Safety. Obviously, some respondents were considering its use, while the vast bulk were already using it.
Ninety-two percent of respondents indicated they involved employees in their safety efforts. This was a very encouraging finding as one of the fundamental conditions for implementing Behavioral Safety appears to be in place in most companies.
Most companys provided Safety Training, had Safety Committees, encouraged 'Near-Miss' reporting, conducted Risk Assessments (or JSA's), Provided Orientation or Induction training to new hires, visitors and contractors, had appointed or elected Safety Representatives, and conducted Weekly Inspections. Less use was made of 'Safety Topic of the Month' campaigns, Incentives or other Safety Pblicity Campaigns. As a whole these responses show that Behavioral Safety is used to complement exisitng safety efforts not replace them (which is as it should be).
